Cara Hackett, a social media producer, is deeply devoted to amplifying local news and engaging online communities.

Employed at MLive, Michigan’s largest local news platform, Cara's responsibilities span crafting newsletters, sculpting social media narratives, delving into analytics, and refining video content.

Her fervor for spotlighting overlooked narratives took root at Florida A&M University’s School of Journalism & Graphic Communication (FAMU) and flourished during her graduate studies at American University. While in the nation's capital, Cara's journalistic pursuits encompassed a diverse range of stories, from high-profile personalities investing in an Arlington-based food delivery startup to probing the historical underpinnings of food deserts in Washington, D.C. She delved into how Black farmers are bridging these gaps in Southeast D.C.

At FAMU, Cara immersed herself in the university's esteemed newspaper, The Famuan. Climbing the ranks from a staff writer to the helm as editor-in-chief, she unearthed a passion for data-driven reporting and pioneering strategies for disseminating news.

As a social media producer, I paint the canvas of cyberspace with the colors of engagement, crafting narratives that spark conversations and inspire communities.
